Anat Hoffman, one of my favorite bad-ass Jewish feminists who founded Women of the Wall was questioned by the Jerusalem police last week. They asked of her involvement in what I like to call the “prayer-in” at the Kotel where a woman was arrested for wearing tallit.
Ben Harris from The Wandering Jew spoke with Hoffman to get her side of the story:
Since the arrest of Nofrat Frenkel at the Kotel a few months ago, I have been wondering what I could do as a New Yorker who basically lacks Jewish literacy, but who identifies immensely with the cause of Anat Hoffman and those who work alongside her. For now, I have decided that the least I can do is to promote awareness, to show that this is an actual violation of rights, and to really hear these amazing women through videos like these and other media outlets. Please take your time to hear these women and give someone else the opportunity to listen.
